Job Summary

Fire Alarm Technician at South Western Communications responsible for installation, troubleshooting, inspection and maintenance of electrical fire alarm systems. Duties include reading blueprints and schematics, supervising installation to meet specifications, installing wiring and control panels, programming/testing equipment, learning new products, diagnosing issues, providing customer-ready solutions, and assisting with preventive maintenance. Requires five years' experience in fire alarm systems, NICET certification, high school diploma, ability to read CAD prints, basic English proficiency, and a valid driver’s license. Travel may be required; strong customer service and communication skills are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate
  • NICET certification
  • Must be able to read CAD generated prints and building blueprints and riser diagrams
  • Must be able to read and write at Basic English proficiency
  • Must be able to compute basic math functions
  • Proven experience in testing, maintenance, and service of fire alarm systems (minimum 5 years)
  • Experience with access control systems and CCTV is a plus
  • Valid and current driver's license
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to read general business documentation
  • Travel: Some out-of-town travel may be required
