Fire Alarm Technician

Job Summary
Inspect existing fire alarm infrastructure, diagnose conditions, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and related components. Service and repair systems, recommend best-fit solutions, and assemble or install new and replacement fire alarm infrastructure. Communicate inspection results, diagnoses, and maintenance recommendations to supervisors and crew members while documenting all activities. Follow safety guidelines, approved processes, and procedures on the job site. Work cohesively with teams of employees or contractors in a physically demanding environment requiring lifting up to 50 lbs. Maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license and clean abstract. Required Qualifications
- NFPA 10 Certification
- Valid CFAA Registration
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Fire Detection, Special Hazards, and programming addressable fire alarm panels
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA, ULC, and applicable Fire Codes
- Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License - No more than 6 demerit points
- Up to date Drivers Abstract
- CSTS 2020
- WHIMIS 2025
- CSO
- Standard First Aid
- H2S Alive
- TDG
- Ability to obtain security clearance (background check, pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, references)
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment
- Must pass a Drug and Alcohol test
- Must pass a Fitness for Work exam
- Must pass a Respiratory Fitness test
- Must pass a Mask Fit Test
Desired Qualifications
- NFPA 10 (SAIT or Lakeland College)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
