Job Summary

Install, troubleshoot, repair, and test complex networked and non-networked fire alarm systems with limited supervision. Perform fire alarm, sprinkler, and extinguisher inspections while reading blueprints and wiring schematics to determine layout requirements. Assist the Construction Fire Alarm Division in inspecting large-scale mass notification systems and train helpers on daily tasks. Maintain appropriate documentation for all work performed and adhere to company policies. Requires knowledge of industry standards, conduit bending, and troubleshooting skills including researching manuals. Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to work in varying temperatures, confined spaces, or high heights.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of industry standards for fire alarm systems installation
  • Experience with a variety of system manufacturers
  • Troubleshooting skills including, researching on line, system manuals to resolve problems
  • Experience with conduit bending, understanding of blue prints and wiring schematics and layout of system installations
  • Exceptional communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors
  • Must be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, work assignments, and other interruptions that may impact pre-established courses of action for completing or progressing with projects and assignments
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to climb
  • Must be able to bend
  • Must be able to pull
  • Must be able to reach overhead
  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls

  • Must be able to work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
  • Must be able to be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces or from high heights
  • Must be able to use construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior military experience
  • HS diploma or GED equivalent
