Job Summary

Install, program, test, repair, and service fire alarm, security, and life safety systems while performing start-up, commissioning, and customer training. Interpret schematics and wiring diagrams to execute installation procedures unassisted, utilizing standard test instruments and hand tools to troubleshoot equipment and identify malfunctions. Coach less experienced colleagues and consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual system problems. Manage project timelines and budgets by identifying risks and communicating with management regarding product performance and installation standards. Maintain awareness of building, mechanical, and fire codes to ensure systems meet all relevant requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED or equivalent experience
  • Local/State Electrical License
  • NICET Level II – Fire Alarm Systems
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Possess low voltage electrical license as required by local/state authority
  • Willingness to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Ability to travel locally to jobsites on a regular basis
  • Minimum Qualifications: 3-5 years relevant field service
  • Experience programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards or equivalent fire alarm systems of small to medium complexity
  • To be driven to achieve necessary certifications/licensing related to products, industry, and city/state
  • Understanding of electronics to include Ohm's law, resistor color code, and relay logic for control of third-party equipment
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper)
  • Working knowledge of blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted
  • Working understanding of building, mechanical, sprinkler and fire codes
  • Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non-technical audience
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure
  • To be a self-starter and work well with little supervision

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electronics or related field including equivalent military experience
  • EST4 Certification
