Job Summary
Fire Alarm Project Leader I leads the design, implementation, and delivery of fire alarm and life-safety system projects ranging from $500K to $3M. The role oversees engineering, scheduling, field installation teams, subcontractors, and customer communication from kickoff through commissioning. Ideal candidates have deep fire alarm system expertise (NFPA, NEC, IBC) and experience directing multi-million-dollar construction or technology projects, coordinating workflows across engineering, installation, testing, and client stakeholders. Responsibilities include project and contract leadership, engineering and field coordination, CPM scheduling, design reviews, execution milestones, interpreting drawings and SOWs, negotiating with customers and subcontractors, as well as overseeing testing, commissioning, and compliance with codes. Financial duties include cost estimates, budgeting, cash flow projections, and maintaining project documentation. Strong emphasis on customer and cross-functional communication, weekly status updates, and ensuring timely delivery within budget. Willingness to travel to project sites as needed, and prior experience with estimating software (e.g., Accubid) or CPM scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6) are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years engineering applications experience
- 5+ years leading fire alarm or technical system projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field)
- Strong understanding of NFPA, NEC, IBC
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar projects (budget, schedule, labor, subcontractors, delivery)
- Experience with estimating, scheduling tools, and job cost reporting systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and develop execution plans
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with customers, vendors, and senior leadership
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
