Fire Alarm Inspector

Job Summary
Inspect, test, and document fire alarm system performance at customer sites while troubleshooting issues and responding to emergency calls, including night, weekend, or short-notice work. Program, service, and repair systems ranging from basic to complex with limited supervision, coordinating daily tasks with contractors, building staff, and office personnel to ensure efficient completion. Identify non-compliant installations or maintenance gaps, communicate findings clearly to stakeholders, and make practical recommendations for system improvements. Maintain accurate records of all work performed, findings, and recommendations for each site. Requires three years of industry experience, valid driver's license, and extensive knowledge of NFPA 72 and NEC standards.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of fire alarm industry experience
- High school diploma
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Extensive knowledge of NFPA 72
- Knowledge of NEC
- Knowledge of fire alarm system theory
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements
- Knowledge of industry standards for fire alarm system installation
- Hands-on experience with a variety of fire alarm system manufacturers
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Confidence working independently in the field
- Clear communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Habit of finishing tasks completely and accurately
Desired Qualifications
- Deeper experience working across multiple listed manufacturers
- Experience with more advanced programming and diagnostics
- Experience handling both routine inspections and more complex system issues on larger or more integrated fire alarm systems
- Prior experience balancing a mix of inspection, service, and emergency call work in a similar service environment
