Job Summary
Fire Alarm / Life Safety Inspector in New York City responsible for performing inspections, testing, and evaluations of fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial, residential, and industrial settings. Ensure compliance with NFPA standards and NYC fire/building codes; prepare detailed inspection reports; identify deficiencies or code violations; coordinate with contractors, property managers, engineers, and AHJs; support fire alarm code consulting and recommend corrective actions; maintain accurate inspection records and assist with project closeouts. Requires 1–5 years of hands-on inspection experience, NICET Level I certification minimum, and knowledge of NFPA NYC codes; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Strong verbal and written communication and ability to read drawings and system schematics. OSHA certification is a plus and additional NICET certifications (Level II+) are beneficial.
Required Qualifications
- 1–5 years of experience in fire alarm inspection, life safety systems, or code consulting
- NICET Level I certification minimum required
- Knowledge of NFPA codes and NYC fire/building regulations
- Experience performing field inspections of fire alarm systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and system schematics
