Job Summary
Operate bulldozers and heavy machinery to perform precise grading and finishing operations on transportation infrastructure projects. Read, interpret, and execute plans, cross-sections, and elevation drawings while adjusting equipment settings and using GPS grade control systems for accuracy. Collaborate with staff to ensure specifications are met, inspect machines for basic maintenance, and adhere to safety protocols. Provide timely updates on task completion and report equipment or project issues. Requires deep understanding of elevations and grades, familiarity with GPS systems, and minimum five years of dozer experience. Schedule includes 7am-5pm with potential overnight or weekend shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Finish Dozer Operator in construction
- Strong ability to read and understand construction plans, cross-sections, and related documents
- Familiarity with GPS and laser-guided equipment for precision grading
- Knowledge of different types of bulldozer blades and attachments and their applications
- Excellent understanding of elevations, grades, and the implications for finishing work
- Commitment to maintaining high safety standards on the job site
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating dozers and other heavy machinery in a construction setting
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing site conditions
- Must be able to pass a background, drug and physical test
- Ability to carry up to 100 lbs
