Job Summary

As a Financial Resources Specialist in the Maine DHHS OCFS unit, you will initiate and monitor payments to providers and assist the Child Care Affordability Program. You will communicate with families and providers to explain unit, state and federal rules, determine eligibility for childcare subsidies, and ensure accurate data entry into automated client information systems. Responsibilities include obtaining and evaluating information from families to complete determinations and re-determinations of eligibility, helping families access subsidies to enable work or schooling, and supporting high-volume processing with customer service excellence and collaboration within a team. Competencies include interviewing, data gathering, attention to detail, adaptability, problem solving, professionalism, and the ability to interpret applicable laws and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • A four (4) year combination of education, training, and/or progressively responsible experience performing administrative and/or complex clerical tasks including experience which demonstrates interviewing and data gathering skills as needed to form the basis for judgments in eligibility determinations.
