Job Summary
Lead strategic, cross-functional initiatives across the Chief Operating & Financial Officer organization to drive process excellence and continuous improvement. Evaluate new accounting transactions, assess budget and forecast impacts, and design the Finance SOX compliance framework while serving as the primary escalation point for related inquiries. Serve as Project Sponsor for the Finance Reporting & Analytics Center of Excellence, supporting reporting enhancements and automation opportunities. Provide subject matter expertise for Third-Party Risk Management, including evaluating supplier financial health and mitigating elevated risks. Partner with Finance and Technical Accounting teams to advance system design, adoption, and change management. This role supports enterprise transformation initiatives such as system implementations and M&A integrations within Vertex's global biotechnology organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
- Demonstrated experience with forecasting
- P&L ownership
- SOX controls
- 8+ years of progressive finance and industry experience
Desired Qualifications
- CPA
- Big 4 or equivalent Public Accounting experience
- Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical industry experience
- ERP or financial system implementation experience
- Proven ability to lead through influence and build trusted relationships across the organization
