Financial Forecasting Accountant

Job Summary

Prepare financial forecasts for tax credit subsidized transactions by extracting data from client documents such as letters of intent and audited financial statements. Consult with clients on optimizing tax credit equity investments through ownership structure evaluations and financing options. Participate in conference calls to discuss structuring investments for federal opportunity zones, renewable energy, and historic rehabilitation tax credits. Document assumptions, prepare summarized reports, and communicate potential problem areas during engagements. Assist with accounting, audit, and tax engagements including year-end audits and cost segregation studies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance or economics
  • 2+ years of appropriate experience
  • Ability to sit for the CPA exam or passed sections of the CPA exam
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and make adjustments as directed
  • Ability to work collaboratively and foster a productive, team-oriented environment
  • Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) and report writing tools, and ability to learn new programs quickly
  • Ability to contribute ideas and add value to designated team
  • Knowledge of partnership accounting/taxation, real estate and lending terminology and other related concepts
  • Available to work evenings and weekends based on position needs
  • Ability to travel domestically if required

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to sit for the CPA exam or passed sections of the CPA exam is a plus
  • Exhibit interest in developing a better knowledge of community development finance and other tax credit subsidized investments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Perform work accurately and in a time-efficient manner with strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills, ability to coordinate complex activities and prioritize conflicting demands and deadlines
  • Ability to sit for the CPA exam or having passed sections of the CPA exam is a plus
  • Experience with any of the following: Affordable Housing, Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), Opportunity Zones (OZ), Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETC), Historical Tax Credits (HTC), Housing and Urban Development (HUD), New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC), Real Estate, Developers, Partnerships, Housing Authority (HA), Public Housing Authority, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI), Community Development Entity Certification Applications (CDE), Property Compliance, Nonprofit, Si...
