Job Summary
Financial Counselor responsibilities include counseling patients and responsible parties to identify payment sources, determining eligibility for charity and grants (up to $5000 in charges), establishing and communicating payment arrangements, accepting payments, providing price estimates, and serving as a customer-service resource in the hospital lobby/registration area. The role also involves cross-training to a Registration Specialist, daily/weekly productivity reporting, contributing to quality management processes, and ensuring payment schedules are in place before the end of the Bill Hold period. Requires understanding of government and non-government accounts for payment and proficiency with spreadsheet-based reporting.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two years' previous experience in a medial healthcare environment
- Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in securing governmental and non-governmental accounts for payment.
- Working knowledge of creating and maintaining spreadsheet-based reports.
