Financial Counselor

Evaluate patients' ability to pay and arrange payment schedules, then follow up on non-payments and determine if collection efforts are exhausted. Compose letters, liens, and probate claims; arrange and collect payments for pre-registered, in-house, and discharged patients. Answer inquiries accurately, enter detailed comments into the computer system, and process incoming mail while maintaining review systems for unpaid accounts. Greets patients politely, responds to collection agencies, and interprets for non-English speakers. Process loan applications, bankruptcy notices, and charity care documentation, and refer exhausted accounts to outside agencies. Maintain records for hard copy and computer systems. Requires one year of collection or business office experience. Day shift, 40 hours, $29.47–$35.47 hourly.
