Job Summary

Greet and register patients while obtaining demographics, insurance details, and authorizations. Verify eligibility, benefits, and authorizations; notify payers of admissions; and ensure accurate coverage listing. Collect payments, set up payment plans, and screen uninsured patients for financial assistance. Assist with scheduling, billing questions, and revenue cycle navigation. Navigate difficult conversations, train new hires, and update workflows. Answer phones and provide general information support to ensure efficient patient flow.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • 1+ years of experience in an office or medical environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime
  • Must be able to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules Monday - Friday
  • Must be able to navigate difficult conversations resourcefully and respectfully
  • Must be able to communicate protocols and complex terminology in a manner easy to understand
  • Must be able to motivate teammates to achieve goals set by department
  • Must be able to greet and register patients
  • Must be able to obtain all demographics and insurance information
  • Must be able to perform point of service collections
  • Must be able to obtain Authorizations / NOA's from patients (or their representatives) and physicians in a courteous and efficient manner for billing
  • Must be able to answer phones
  • Must be able to direct patients to the appropriate resource for questions regarding scheduling, authorizations, billing etc.
  • Must be able to teach new hires Revenue Cycle Basics and how their job impacts the cycle overall
  • Must be able to complete Revenue Cycle Overview Training
  • Must be able to shadow multiple parts of the Revenue Cycle (Scheduling, Authorizations, Registration, Billing)
  • Must be able to collaborate with Patient Financial Services and Med Data to screen patients for financial assistance
  • Must be able to provide estimates to patients for upcoming/current services
  • Must be able to contact patients prior to their procedures and collect payments
  • Must be able to work with patients to set up payment plans and loan programs
  • Must be able to act as a liaison between patients and BCH upper management to create special payment arrangements
  • Must be able to collect confidential and sensitive information in a respectful manner
  • Must be able to assist patients, departments and providers with eligibility, benefits and authorization questions and cost information
  • Must be able to remain knowledgeable with changing workflows
  • Must be able to orient and onboard new team members
  • Must be able to develop new workflows
  • Must be able to update reference guides as needed
  • Must be able to collaborate with department trainers on new materials and training strategies
  • Must be able to use common office equipment with ease (credit care machines, copies/ scanners)

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, (scheduling meetings and sending e-mails), Microsoft Word (create and send documents) and ability to navigate Window and have excellent keyboarding skills
