Job Summary
Financial Counselor at Orthopedic Physicians Alaska (On-Site, Anchorage) provides patient-focused financial services: servicing patients, reviewing guarantor balances, discussing payment and hardship options, answering account, insurance, and billing questions, obtaining and processing payments (in person and by phone), and coordinating follow-up actions. Requires medical office experience, basic CPT/ICD-9 coding, HIPAA knowledge, billing procedures, and ability to explain EOBs within a team that includes claims processing, payment posting, and pre-certification. Required Qualifications
- One (1) year of medical office experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of billing procedures
- Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
- Basic collection experience
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
- Knowledge of primary and secondary coordination of insurance benefits
- Able to understand and explain EOBs
- Able to work in an integrated team that includes claims processing, payment posting, collections and pre-certification
