Job Summary
Financial Counselor position responsible for collections and handling billable service reimbursements for the medical facility. Core duties include eligibility and benefit verification, copay logging, determining patient financial responsibility, scheduling patient calls to discuss financial estimates, offering options and resources (e.g., patient assistance, payment plans, donations), reviewing supporting documentation for accuracy, researching and resolving accounts receivable and collections, assisting patients with billing questions, documenting notes in OncoEMR per policy, scanning pertinent documents, maintaining HIPAA confidentiality, contributing to inter-departmental issue resolution, and performing other duties as assigned. Requires strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and travel between local offices as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 3 Years of billing experience in health care organization
- Familiarity with managed care and capitated contracts
- High school diploma or GED required
