Job Summary
The Financial Counselor assists patients and families with financial interactions related to healthcare expenses, serving as a patient advocate and educator to navigate funding resources. Works with clinical providers to deliver financial guidance, conducts in-person interviews (including travel to multiple locations or home visits), liaises between patients and intake/clinical staff and outside organizations, and investigates funding sources (Medicaid, Medicare, COBRA, grants, etc.) while recommending third-party funding options. Participates in continuing education on patient funding sources and policies, supports billing/collections/denial management inquiries, evaluates eligibility for financial assistance (Propensity to Pay and application processes), and coordinates with price estimators and patients to resolve financial barriers to care. Requires strong HS diploma and relevant experience; preferred additional education in health services or accounting and CRT-Application Counselor certificate; environment offers comprehensive benefits and a standard day shift.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant experience in health care revenue cycle or equivalent
