Job Summary
Financial Controller responsible for day-to-day accounting across multiple entities and currencies, owning core processes (GL maintenance, reconciliations, inter-company accounting, VAT filings, audit support) and supervising a Finance Assistant. Drives month-end close, monthly management accounts and consolidated reporting, supports external audits, and coordinates with stakeholders to improve financial systems, reporting, and controls. Must bring senior accounting experience, professional qualifications (ACCA/ACA/CPA or equivalent) and strong Excel/Business Central skills, with effective independent ownership and English communication.
Required Qualifications
- Senior accounting experience in a complex environment
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CPA or equivalent) or in final stages of qualification
- Experience managing month-end close processes independently
- Experience with VAT submissions and tax reporting (primarily in Malta)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Business Central (accounting software)
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function
- Ability to collaborate within a wider finance function and cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluency in English - written and spoken
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior team members is an advantage
