Job Summary
Financial Analyst I based in Madison, WI, with remote-work option and travel as needed. Responsibilities include collecting, analyzing, monitoring, and forecasting financial data; using planning and analysis software to support leadership with data-driven decision-making; serving as a finance SME on cross-departmental projects; handling procurement-related activities and invoicing; and partnering with department leaders to ensure adherence to UW–Madison and UW System finance policies. Requires cost-conscious, GAAP-compliant general ledger work, development and maintenance of financial processes, and the ability to prepare reports and dashboards. Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of relevant financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting experience are required; strong Excel skills and effective communication are essential; experience with planning/ERP systems (Planful, Workday, SAP, etc.) is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- At least 1 year of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting
- Experience with data gathering, financial modeling, and forecasting
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy in financial analysis and reporting
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience with financial planning and analysis software or ERP systems (Planful, Workday, SAP, etc.) preferred
