Job Summary
Support advisory mandates for boards, equity sponsors, and investors on the evaluation and execution of transactions involving merchant power producers, renewable energy companies, and utilities. Prepare marketing materials, pitches, and presentations while performing financial analyses including valuations (DCF, LBO, trading comparables), financing and debt capacity studies, and returns/IRR calculations. Interface with industry professionals and consultants to evaluate power and utility assets, and support ongoing analyses of recent events and trends within the sector. This role involves working as a member of deal teams comprising Managing Directors, Vice Presidents, Associates, and other analysts.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of investment banking or similar experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting and applied financial theory
- Keen analytical capabilities
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Motivated, creative, and outgoing
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in unregulated or regulated U.S. power markets, power project finance, trading/marketing, or corporate finance
- B.A. or B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Business or Applied Economics and / or course work in accounting and finance
- Fundamental understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications
- Strong financial and computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff
- Strong analytical abilities, including financial modelling skills
- An advanced level of attention to detail
