Job Summary
Monitor budgets for annual operating and capital plans, ensure accurate internal and external financial reporting, and analyze staffing plans to determine program needs. Prepare and reconcile quarterly reports for Ontario Health, the Ministry of Health, and other funders, while supporting the general ledger and year-end audit processes. Provide guidance on financial transactions, identify efficiencies in accounting systems, and deliver back-up coverage for payroll and accounts payable as required.
Required Qualifications
- Community College diploma in accounting
- CPA designation (or in final stages of completion)
- CFA/MBA
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in full cycle accounting
- Adequate knowledge about the ASNPO (Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations)
- Experience in budget development, monitoring, and financial reporting practices
- Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and financial software (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, ADP, or similar)
- Academic Certificate(s)
- Valid driver's license/vehicle
- Proof that the successful candidate has received both doses of a Health Canada approved COVID 19 vaccine at least 14 days before the first day of work
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing
- Working knowledge of Ministry of Health reporting requirements, including MIS financial, statistical, and trial balance reporting
- Solid knowledge of financial analytics and techniques to interpret and present complex financial data
- Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and standards applicable to the not-for-profit, supportive housing, social service, and health care sectors
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance
- English essential
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
