Job Summary

Assist in the development, review, presentation, and publication of financial information while creating, documenting, and monitoring financial controls, policies, and procedures. Serve as a liaison for financial inquiries and support finance-related workshops. Provide City-wide financial and analytical assistance across all operating areas, including developing Service Area budgetary and financial information, performance measurements, and government reporting. Conduct research and develop statistical and graphical reports, while performing Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation's Health & Safety Program. Work 35 hours per week with overtime available during peak periods. Duties may vary based on departmental needs and rotation requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • University Degree in Accounting or Finance or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency
  • minimum of two (2) years of experience in a computerized accounting environment
  • post secondary school Community College diploma in Accounting or Finance or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency
  • minimum of four (4) years of experience in a computerized accounting environment
  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency
  • designation in Accounting (i.e. CPA/CA, CPA/CGA, CPA/CMA or acceptable equivalency as recognized by an applicable regulatory body)
  • over ten (10) years of experience in a computerized accounting environment
  • advanced level of knowledge in Excel
  • extensive working knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word and PowerPoint
  • excellent organizational skills
  • strong and pronounced interpersonal and mediation skills
  • ability to work overtime during peak periods
  • highly motivated and creative
  • knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with work

Desired Qualifications

  • A recognized designation in accounting (i.e. CPA/CA, CPA/CGA, CPA/CMA or acceptable equivalency as recognized by applicable regulatory body)
  • University Degree or Community College diploma
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financials and Amanda
  • Experience in conducting research, maintaining and reporting comparative statistics as well as developing policies and procedures
  • Experience in Government reporting, procedure-related Quality Assurance reviews and reporting
  • experience in high volume/complex database extracting and sorting/organizing
