Job Summary
Review student financial aid applications, verify data accuracy, and resolve conflicts in federal and state databases to determine eligibility. Process awarding and disbursement following institutional guidelines while managing recalculation revisions for attendance changes or special circumstances. Communicate with students via phone and email to resolve processing issues and explain program requirements. Perform monthly reconciliation and error resolution for federal aid reporting. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive student information and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet service expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Experience in financial aid, preferred
- Must be able to work in a collegial and collaborative manner within a team environment
- Demonstrate success working with students or customers in a service-oriented environment
- Employment is dependent upon successful access to the National Student Loan Data System, which requires all federal student loans to be in good standing and not in default and a credit check to review that student loans are not in default
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams
- Detail oriented, excellent time management skills
- Superior organizational skills; ability to execute multiple objectives concurrently
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions
- Ability to multi-task daily
- Ability to produce a high volume of quality work, timely and accurately
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
