Job Summary
Manage monthly internal closing activities, including preparation of management reports and accounting research papers for complex transactions. Oversee quarterly and annual external financial reporting, coordinating footnote disclosures and interacting with external auditors. Lead staff through coaching and development while identifying process improvement initiatives. Administer and test software applications such as Blackline and Oracle EBS. Complete project-based work and ad-hoc requests as assigned. Ensure timely and accurate outputs for compliance filings and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited university in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
- minimum five years of practical professional experience in one or more areas of accounting
- demonstrated ability to apply accounting theory, principles and techniques
- Solid computer proficiency with standard office software (documents, spreadsheets, presentations)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Effective communication and analytical skills
- Organizational skills
- Understanding of GAAP and internal controls
- Presentation and interpretation of financial statements
- Utility/regulatory experience
- Understanding of FERC and NARUC
- Experience writing queries and extracting data
- Legal structure of the Utility and its subsidiaries
- Knowledge of Citizens Energy Group policies, practices, and procedures
- Leadership training based on principles similar to Situational Leadership, Social Styles, or Leadership Challenge
- CPA, CMA, CIA certification
