Job Summary
Perform full cycle accounting for assigned subsidiaries, business lines, and intercompany consolidation transactions while preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Complete general ledger reconciliations, perform detailed financial analysis, and account for investments, derivatives, borrowings, and accruals. Validate financial data within investment and derivative systems, review related contracts, and support external audits by preparing required information and responding to inquiries. Collaborate with project teams and IT to enhance and implement finance systems. This full-time, permanent hybrid role at Vancity head office reports to the Manager, Financial Accounting. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, a professional designation, and 3–5 years of progressive experience in financial services are required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA) or in progress
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within financial services
- Strong knowledge of full cycle accounting and financial reporting processes
- Experience with general ledger reconciliations and financial analysis
- Solid understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
- Detail-Oriented – You take pride in accuracy and completeness in financial reporting and analysis
- Collaborative – You work effectively across teams to deliver shared outcomes and solutions
- Analytical – You can interpret complex financial data and translate it into meaningful insights

Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with investments, derivatives, or complex financial instruments is an asset

- Exposure to financial system implementations or upgrades
- Knowledge of Vancity programs, systems, or the credit union sector
