Job Summary
Prepare and post general ledger journals while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts. Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and reconcile bank accounts and intercompany transactions. Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, payroll accounting activities, and statutory obligations including BAS and PAYG withholding. Support budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting while preparing audit workpapers and identifying process improvement opportunities. Liaise with Payroll and HR teams regarding payroll matters and statutory compliance reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Degree qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline
- 3–5 years' experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting principles
- Demonstrated experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and month-end adjustments
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and sound analytical capability
- Confidence working with financial data, investigating variances and supporting accurate reporting outcomes
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders across Finance, Payroll, HR and operational teams
- CPA or CA studies commenced or completed, highly regarded
Desired Qualifications
- Experience within construction, engineering, infrastructure, renewable energy or project-based environments
- Payroll accounting experience
- Exposure to ERP systems
- Understanding of payroll tax, superannuation and employment compliance obligations
