Job Summary
Own the economics of chip and accelerator capacity, including cost per chip-hour and TCO across generations. Evaluate capacity offers and hardware commitments with the Compute deal team, analyzing pricing structures and counterparties. Partner with Capacity Planning and Hardware Engineering on financial analysis influencing machine strategy. Own the hardware forecast for delivery volumes, expenses, and cash flows. Build and manage the Machines finance team, setting the operating cadence with central FP&A and Accounting. Serve as the accountable owner for machines FP&A into forecast and close cycles, coordinating with Accounting, Treasury, and Infra FP&A on accounting treatment and forecast inputs.
Required Qualifications
- Owned hardware, semiconductor, or hyperscaler capacity economics
- Experience managing or mentoring finance talent
- Strong analytical skills and the judgment to turn an ambiguous structure into a clear financial recommendation
- Comfort partnering closely with engineering and commercial teams under deal-timeline pressure
- Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
- Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position
- Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
Desired Qualifications
- Passion for Anthropic's mission to build safe, transformative AI systems
- 8+ years in strategic finance, FP&A, or capacity/infrastructure finance
- Capacity planning or infrastructure finance experience at a hyperscaler or major chip maker
- Experience standing up a new finance function
- MBA, CFA, or equivalent
