Job Summary
Finance Manager role providing strategic financial leadership and business partnering across multiple UK education and training business units (Early Years, Health & Social Care, Adult Skills, Business Skills and Transport). Responsibilities include overseeing monthly management accounts with insightful analysis, monitoring performance across units, presenting results to senior stakeholders and CFO/CEO, ensuring high-quality reporting, supporting year-end audits, leading budgeting and forecasting, performing financial modelling and scenario analysis, monitoring contract performance, and developing business cases and funding profiles. Also accountable for financial governance, continuous improvement of processes and systems, payroll analysis, and line management of the Assistant Management Accountant. Requires a fully qualified accountant and a strong ability to partner with leadership teams, coupled with sector experience in Apprenticeships and Adult Education funding rules desirable. The role is home-based with some travel and may involve flexible/interview arrangements (remote or in-person).
Required Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role
- Strong commercial and strategic thinking
- Excellent analytical, financial modelling and problem-solving skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at senior level
- Experience partnering with leadership teams and supporting business decision making
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple business units and deadlines
- High attention to detail with a proactive, solution-focused approach
- Strong Excel and financial systems capability
- Line management experience
- Experience within a training provider delivering Apprenticeships and Adult Education contracts highly advantageous
- Understanding of apprenticeship and adult education funding rules desirable
- Experience using Access Dimensions (Access Finance) desirable
