Job Summary
Finance Lead at Level Nine based in Berlin leads the daily financial engine and strategic financial control for an AI-driven catalyst discovery startup. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day accounting and payroll with an external tax advisor, cash flow and budgeting, building AI automations to streamline operations, maintaining auditable documentation, and owning vendor relationships and risk management. You’ll develop and update complex financial models, run scenario planning for scaling, collaborate with commercial/BD teams to align financial strategy with business deals, and handle strategic reporting for the CEO and investors. The role also covers fundraising coordination, grant modeling and compliance reporting, and supporting the data-room readiness for investor discussions. Requires strong Excel skills, comfort with contracts, and excellent communication to represent the company to investors, funding agencies, and clients; German (C1) and English proficiency are essential.
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of relevant working experience
- experience running operational finance in a startup environment
- strong foundational understanding of corporate finance
- keen interest or exposure to blended finance / project finance structures
- elite with Excel and propensity to build automated systems
- comfort reading contracts and spotting red flags
- C1 German and fluent English
- world-class communication with investors, funding agencies, and clients
