Job Summary
Lead FP&A, financial operations, reporting, and compliance while overseeing the balance sheet and treasury during a Controller's leave of absence. Manage agreements, payments, and grants across vendors and investments using our spend management platform, and prepare accurate financial statements and tax filings. Partner with leadership on budget-to-actuals analysis and program budgets for our 30 internal projects and external grantees. Own accounting for one direct report and monitor the investment portfolio to support risk management. This contract-to-hire engagement runs from September 2026 through June 2027 with potential conversion to permanent FP&A ownership as Astera scales toward 300 FTEs.
Required Qualifications
- ~8–12 years of experience in financial management and strategic finance, preferably in startups
- Exceptional relationship orientation and verbal + written communication
- Gives and receives feedback well
- Comfortable operating outside a fixed job description and thriving in a startup-like environment
- Eagerness to use AI and new technology as an opportunity to improve effectiveness
- Bias to action and experimentation
- Commitment to high standards, ownership, and tenacious problem solving
