Job Summary

Lead the accounting and finance team of a Seattle-based nonprofit as Finance Director/Controller; oversee budgeting, federal grants management, audits, and financial reporting while ensuring GAAP compliance, internal controls, and risk management. Responsibilities include managing the annual budget process, federal and local reporting, cash flow forecasting, coordinating with program staff, supporting funding renewals and grant applications, and serving as primary liaison with external auditors and funders. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and significant nonprofit finance leadership experience; proficiency with NetSuite, PyanGo, and SalesForce is preferred; strong communication and leadership skills are required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPA, CMA, or master’s Degree in a related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial management within a nonprofit organization, including at least 3 years of budgeting and managing federal grants and funding
  • 5+ years of experience leading a collaborative, diverse finance team
  • Proficiency with complex accounting systems & Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with cost allocation and indirect cost rate negotiation
  • Proficiency with NetSuite, PyanGo, and SalesForce
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex financial data in a clear and accessible way to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, valuing diverse perspectives and encouraging contributions from all team members
