Job Summary
Prepare monthly financial statements, analyze budgets, and oversee accounts payable to support decision-making across construction, homeowner services, and development. Lead the annual budget process, reconcile mortgages with third-party administrators, and manage General Liability and Workers' Compensation insurance compliance. Supervise accounting staff, prepare audit schedules for external auditors, and track asset valuations bi-annually. Collaborate on 990 tax return preparation, donation reconciliations, and ad hoc financial analysis for the Finance Committee and President. This long-term contract-to-hire role requires QuickBooks proficiency and non-profit GAAP experience within a Durham-based organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field with non-profit GAAP experience
- CPA or CFA
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- 5 Years or more of experience in managing financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis
- Proven ability to manage complex financial processes and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Experience with QuickBooks is essential for efficient financial management and reporting
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and auditing standards
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills
