Job Summary
Finance & Compliance Specialist responsible for end-to-end payroll for 150+ employees and general accounting support in a California school context. Duties include processing bi-weekly payroll, garnishments, stipends, and longevity bonuses; ensuring payroll and spending align with California education laws; posting payroll journals to Sage Intacct; maintaining ledgers and month-end close; monitoring restricted and unrestricted funds with SACS coding; audit readiness and federal/state portal reporting (PARs/Semi-Annual Certifications, GMART/ConApp). The role requires payroll expertise, strong accounting literacy for multi-fund environments, and advanced Excel skills, with collaboration across school leadership and HR; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Payroll Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience running end-to-end payroll for 150+ employees under tight deadlines.
- Accounting Literacy: A strong understanding of multi-fund accounting and double-entry bookkeeping (debits, credits, and journal entries).
- Tech & Data Savvy: Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and a proven track record of picking up enterprise systems quickly.
