Finance Associate (Open to Tier 1 applicants)

Job Summary
Support the Head of Finance/Admin in managing financial resources for BPPS client teams through effective budgeting, monitoring, and analysis of trends and variances. Prepare and reconcile financial reports, ensure compliance with UNDP regulations and donor obligations, and facilitate internal and external audit processes. Maintain inventory records, process administrative documentation, and respond to routine financial queries while coordinating supplier management. Optimize financial systems and procedures, document Standard Operating Procedures, and lead workshops on financial management best practices. Fluency in English and German is required, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant finance or accounting experience.
Required Qualifications
- Tier 1: UNDP/ UNCDF/ UNV staff holding permanent (PA) and fixed-term (FTA) appointments (defined as 'internal' candidates)
- Secondary Education with specialized certification in accounting and/or Finance
- University degree in Finance or Accounting
- Part-qualified accountants from an internationally accredited institute of accountancy
- Fully Qualified Accountant, from an internationally accredited institute of accountancy or Full Completion of the UNDP Finance Training and Certification Programme (FTCP)
- Minimum 7 years (with secondary education) or 4 years (with bachelor ́s degree) of experience in finance or accounting
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis
- Fluency in English and German
Desired Qualifications
- University degree in Finance or Accounting desirable
- Part-qualified accountants from an internationally accredited institute of accountancy will have a distinct advantage
- Knowledge of UNDP financial regulations
- Experience using accounting software and tools
- Experience in project financial management
- Knowledge of another UN language
