Finance Assistant – Accounts Receivable and Banking

Job Summary
Post cash receipts via BACS, cheques, payment gateways, and direct debits, matching them against remittance information and notifying the Credit Controller daily. Complete weekly and month-end bank reconciliations for British Safety Council and Mates in Mind accounts, investigating discrepancies promptly. Process manual invoices and credit notes, manage the Mates in Mind credit control ledger, and resolve customer payment queries. Identify opportunities to automate banking and accounts receivable processes while supporting Certinia and Salesforce system improvements. Assist with the annual financial audit and maintain accurate financial records. This role supports the British Safety Council's mission to make workplaces safer and healthier.
Required Qualifications
- Good secondary level of education including Maths and English
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good numerical skills
- Excellent telephone skills
- Able to assimilate information quickly
- A good understanding of Microsoft software applications
- Good keyboard skills
- Experience of working with financial data
- Experience of handling a large volume of customer enquiries by phone and by email
- Experience of working cross functionally within a team
- Experience of working with financial software packages
- Location: Remote within UK, with periodic team meetings at agreed locations
