Finance and Compliance Director - Land Border Programme (National Position)

Job Summary
Finance and Compliance Director leads finance, grants and compliance for Mercy Corps’ East Africa Land Border Programme. Oversees multi-country budgeting, financial systems, internal controls, audits, donor reporting (FCDO), and grants management across Kenya and expanding footprint; provides leadership to finance officers and ensures on-time, on-budget delivery while adhering to Mercy Corps and donor policies; requires extensive international NGO experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and ability to manage complex financial operations across multiple partners.
Required Qualifications
- BA/S or equivalent in accounting or finance
- CPA(K) or equivalent
- At least 15 years of progressive financial management experience (supervisory)
- At least 4 years’ experience in grants management with understanding of FCDO grant/contract regulations
- At least 3 years’ international experience; INGO/PVO field experience preferred
- Experience with budget preparation, financial reporting, and ABB budgeting format
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
- Ability to work with ethnically diverse teams in sensitive environments
- Experience in insecure environments
- Strong organizational and mentoring skills
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office, particularly Excel
