Job Summary
Manage project cost allocation, labor, and plant inputs while preparing monthly performance commentary and financial forecasts using the FPM tool. Lead the Project Controls Specialist through performance management and mentoring, ensuring accurate progress claims and contract variations are submitted in line with requirements. Develop reporting systems and tools, including PowerBi and Excel, to consolidate inputs across mine planning, HR, procurement, and asset management functions. Analyze project performance to enable timely decision-making and support new project establishment. Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company policies at the Stobie Open Pit Mine in Sudbury, Ontario.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience in project cost engineering, accounting, or financial analysis
- Intermediate Excel and Presentation skills
- Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Thiess
- 4-year University degree
- A technical degree (engineering, technology, etc.) paired with a business acumen/education (financial, MBA, etc.)
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle
Desired Qualifications
- Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience
- Previous experience with subcontractor and supplier relations, especially in regards to contract management and review
- PowerBi experience
- Exposure to the resources or construction/mining industries
- 4-year University degree preferred, experience in lieu considered
- A technical degree (engineering, technology, etc.) paired with a business acumen/education (financial, MBA, etc.)
