Job Summary
Local Finance Analyst role in Yokohama supporting accurate financial reporting and day-to-day accounting in a lean local finance team.Responsibilities include assisting the manager with daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, audit and tax-related activities; validating AP, T&E, and PO requests; preparing payroll-related and general ledger journal entries; bank reconciliations; balance sheet reconciliation; SAP data uploads and exports; reconciling passthrough inventory movement and sales statements; supporting audit requests and corporate tax filings; overseeing fixed asset compliance per IFRS, JGAAP, and local tax requirements; assisting with system administration and dimension data maintenance; filing and managing accounting documents; communicating with external and internal stakeholders; and performing ad-hoc tasks. Required 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, Japanese and English language proficiency, and strong Excel and SAP experience. Preferred IFRS knowledge and multinational experience, plus a practical, detail-oriented, proactive mindset and ability to collaborate across multi-country teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Nissho Boki Level 2 or higher
- Languages: Japanese (Fluent or above), English (Business level)
- Professional experience: minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in monthly and annual accounting processes
- Experience responding to tax accountant information requests for corporate tax filings
- Foundational understanding of payroll reports and Japanese withholding tax regulations
- Knowledge of lease accounting and inventory valuation (e.g., standard costing, lower of cost or net realizable value)
- Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) or equivalent
- Experience at US or European multinational companies
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
- Practical experience with SAP and/or legacy ERP systems is a plus
