Job Summary

Teach two 90-minute film classes weekly, guiding grades 5-12 students through the full filmmaking process from script to screen. Partner with a co-mentor to utilize a ready-made, rigorous curriculum that covers writing, shooting, and editing to produce finished short films. Help young people find their voice while working flexible hours of 7-14 hours per week, with paid prep time and mileage reimbursement for travel up to 50 miles. This role requires 3+ years of industry experience and a valid driver's license, with a background check and TB screening required prior to employment.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years working in the film industry, as a director, producer, or in any below-the-line role
  • Strong skills in at least one area of filmmaking
  • Enough editing ability to cut simple short content
  • Comfortable and confident working with kids in a school setting
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Live Scan fingerprinting
  • TB screening
  • Ability to safely lift and transport up to 50 pounds of filmmaking equipment

Desired Qualifications

  • Film degree or film-school background
  • Previous teaching or mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of camera, audio, and G&E equipment; film story structure
  • Experience with Frame.io and Dropbox
  • DaVinci Resolve
