Job Summary
Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students while supervising them in various school-related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans to meet the needs of all learners. Create an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of children through activities promoting physical, mental, and social growth. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community while maintaining appropriate records and following required procedures. Prepare students for later grades by encouraging exploration of learning opportunities and perseverance with challenging tasks. Provide materials and resources for imaginative play and organize activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling. Maintain regular attendance and serve on special committees as prescribed by Maryland State Law and Board of Education policy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- meets licensure requirements as established by the Maryland State Department of Education
- Other experience as established by Maryland Law and Board of Education policy
- Knowledge of subject matter
- appropriate instructional methodologies
- exemplary human relation skills
- exemplary organizational and planning skills
- ability to work effectively with students, parents and staff
- ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
- ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds
- good hand-eye coordination
- arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp
- visual acuity to use a keyboard
- ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
