Job Summary
Operate the school bus safely and efficiently, adhering to assigned trip directions and schedules while supervising student behavior. Follow procedures for obtaining and returning paperwork, checking vehicles for defects, and reporting accidents, injuries, or mechanical failures. Evacuate students during emergencies and cooperate with supervisory staff on drills and safety exercises. Maintain punctuality, meet task deadlines, and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and administrators. Research district policies before acting and participate in professional learning opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Texas commercial driver's license with passenger and school bus endorsement
- TEA school bus driver certification
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to pass DOT physical
- Ability to complete required bus driver safety training
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of student discipline procedure
- Ability to manage student behavior
- Ability to operate bus
- Possess a good driving record
- Ability to evacuate students in the event of an accident/emergency
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years' school bus driver experience preferred
