Job Summary
Conduct hands-on field training with newly hired officers at assigned locations, instructing them on post orders, patrol procedures, customer service expectations, report writing, and emergency response protocols. Evaluate trainee performance and readiness for independent assignment while providing constructive coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback. Ensure trainees adhere to all MDPS policies, procedures, and operational expectations, addressing and correcting violations immediately or escalating significant concerns to Operations leadership. Maintain accurate training records, attendance logs, and evaluation reports, documenting corrective actions and improvement plans. Collaborate with site supervisors and management regarding trainee progress and performance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of security, protective services, military, or law enforcement experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a field-based environment
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and communication skills
- Formal instructional experience
- Ability to objectively evaluate performance and maintain accurate documentation
- Must meet all MDPS credentialing, licensing, and training requirements
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Field Training Officer (FTO), Supervisor, Site Lead, or similar leadership role
- Training certifications
- Experience in retail security, shopping center security, or high-visibility deterrence environments
- Strong report writing and administrative skills
