Job Summary
Own the full training pipeline for newly hired Surveillance Investigators from orientation through solo certification. Ride with and directly supervise trainees in the field, teaching positioning, backseat discipline, GPS protocols, and code procedures while evaluating performance against a fixed solo-investigator standard. Complete daily field evaluations before end of shift, administer phase quizzes, and recommend advancement or remediation based on demonstrated competency rather than time served. Train on high-risk scenarios, case documentation standards, and two-investigator protocols. Participate in hiring interviews and maintain training materials to drive continuous improvement. Report directly to the COO on training outcomes and cohort throughput.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience designing, delivering, and evaluating structured, competency-based training programs
- Track record as a trainer
- Track record as an Investigator
- Skilled in adult learning and coaching methods
- Ability to teach first and evaluate second
- Ability to correct and reinforce in real time
- Ability to use repetition deliberately
- Experience using standardized, objective evaluation tools
- Experience using rubrics
- Experience using checklists
- Experience using daily observation reports
- Demonstrated ability to hold every trainee to a single fixed performance standard
- Ability to give direct, standards-based feedback
- Experience designing and delivering remediation plans for underperforming trainees
- Ability to document remediation efforts
- Comfort participating in candidate screening
- Comfort participating in interviews
- Ability to provide input on hiring decisions
- Ability to provide input on candidate readiness for the training pipeline
- Working knowledge of sub rosa surveillance methodology
- Working knowledge of AOE/COE and QME-related case handling
- Working knowledge of California workers' compensation investigation fundamentals
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Valid California driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to travel extensively throughout California
- Ability to obtain/maintain any required BSIS registration or licensure applicable to the role
