Job Summary
Inspect and clean railcar interiors to meet FRA, AAR, and Tactical Cleaning requirements; complete cleaning checklists; maintain a safe work environment; communicate with Shop Manager; assist with setup and troubleshooting of the diesel cleaning system; maintain documentation (permits, QAQC, and daily reports); and perform duties associated with railcar/tank car cleaning using water, abrasive, or sand, with proper PPE. Requires ability to climb, work in confined spaces and outdoors, and willingness to travel 50-75% with overnight stays; HS diploma preferred and 1 year freight car/tank car experience preferred; ability to pass medical, respirator fit, and drug/alcohol screenings.
Required Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred
- Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces and heights, bend, stoop, stretch, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs overhead
- Availability to work overtime hours
- Availability to travel approximately 50% - 75% of the time including overnight stays
- Willingness and ability to wear safety equipment (PPE)
- Ability to operate a computer (MS Word, MS Excel)
- Hazwoper/Confined Space/First-Aid/Hazmat training or willingness to be trained
- Knowledge of equipment and tools for safe entry (Sandblasting/Power Washing)
- Valid driver’s license
