Job Summary
Inspect and clean railcar interiors for compliance with customer, FRA, AAR, and Tactical Cleaning requirements using water, abrasive materials, or sand. Complete cleaning checklists, maintain equipment such as sprayers and hoses, and ensure proper disposal of materials per EPA standards. Perform safe confined space entries with restricted lighting while wearing full personal protective equipment. Assist with diesel cleaning system setup, troubleshoot issues, and maintain clear communication with management. Submit daily reports, operational documents, and QAQC documentation accurately. Adhere to production schedules, travel 50% to 75% of the time including overnight stays, and work overtime as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces and heights, bend, stoop, stretch, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs overhead on a consistent basis
- Ability and willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions
- Willingness and ability to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to, respirators, safety shoes eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, hard hats, and a variety of protective suits
- Ability to operate a computer to perform daily work activities, with an understanding of basic computer software (MS Word, MS Excel)
- Ability and willingness to be trained on Hazwoper courses, Confined Spacing, First-Aid, Hazardous Materials, and other required safety and/or OSHA training
- Knowledge of equipment and tools required to perform safe entry for cleaning (Familiarity with Sandblasting / Power Washing equipment)
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions
- Have vision correctable to 20/20 for inspection activities
- Ability to pass a company required physical examination and drug and alcohol screen
- Ability to pass a company required respiratory wellness test and respirator fit test
- Have a valid driver's license
- Availability to work overtime hours
- Availability to travel approximately 50% - 75% of the time including overnight stays from either mobile or other fixed job sites
Desired Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- A minimum of 1 year of proven successful experience in a freight car/tank car experience
- Experience working with heavy construction, cleaning, and/or repair equipment
