Job Summary
Field Technician - PSS responsible for commissioning and quality assurance of fire alarm systems (Edwards/EST preferred), performing system programming verification and functional testing, documenting test reports and device lists, and ensuring readiness for acceptance and project turnover. Works with installation contractors to resolve deficiencies, coordinates with AHJ as required, maintains comprehensiveDocumentation (test reports, as-builts, checklists), and supports acceptance testing. Requires strong troubleshooting and documentation skills, ability to read construction drawings and risers diagrams, NFPA 72 knowledge preferred, and willingness to travel 80%+ depending on project needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6+ years’ experience in fire alarm system installations, inspections, and troubleshooting
- Valid driver’s license
Desired Qualifications
- NICET 1 or greater
- Experience with Edwards or major fire alarm systems
- Strong understanding of codes and testing requirements (NFPA 72 knowledge preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and risers diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting and system verification skills
- Detail-oriented documentation accuracy
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to travel 80%+
