Job Summary
Field Technician-Mechanic at Rogers Group, Staunton, VA, performing repairs on heavy trucks, heavy equipment, and asphalt equipment; diagnose a wide range of service issues (engines, brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical, cooling/heating), conduct routine maintenance, inspect machinery, manage and document maintenance/work orders, weld and fabricate as required, and handle heavy equipment parts and procurement. Requires ability to operate mobile equipment and a company vehicle on jobsites and public highways, with rotating day/night shifts and potential overtime. Emphasizes safety, DOT compliance, and collaboration with peers and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Uncompromising focus on safety excellence and able to perform all duties under DOT regulations & company safety policies and practices.
- Minimum of three years of experience working on construction equipment and on-road trucks.
- Capable of working with limited supervision and scheduling own work.
- Experience performing DOT Annual Inspections preferred
- Ability to stoop, push, kneel, twist and lift 70lbs.
- Ability to climb and perform work on heights of 20 feet
- Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions.
- Able to develop working relationships with other employees and vendors.
- Welding and fabrication ability as needed
- Able to operate a company vehicle on public highways and job sites
- Familiarity with heavy equipment parts catalogs, procurement, handling, storage, and cost of heavy equipment parts
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
