Job Summary
Leak Survey Technician responsible for inspecting natural gas distribution systems, conducting leak surveys with specialized detection equipment, documenting findings, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Requires outdoor, active fieldwork; no prior experience needed—paid training and certifications provided. Strong emphasis on safety, clear communication with homeowners and the public, ability to perform physically demanding tasks (walking 4–7 miles daily, lifting up to 25 pounds), and proficiency with basic tools and mobile technology.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Ability to pass a DOT drug screen and background check
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to walk 4-7 miles per day in varying terrain and weather
- Proficiency with Simple Hand Tools
- Ability to use and understand utility maps
- Proficient with technology (smartphone, tablet)
- Strong reliability and accountability
- Customer service experience preferred but not required
- Ability to operate and learn industry-leading gas detection equipment
- Work well individually and in a group
- Mentoring/training available (paid training and certifications)
