Job Summary
Conduct site assessments and field evaluations to verify project readiness for communications and automation systems. Install, terminate, and test fiber optic, copper, and low-voltage cabling while mounting and configuring equipment in rack and wall environments. Perform cable certification, continuity testing, signal tracing, and loopback diagnostics using industry-standard tools. Troubleshoot network devices and field equipment to identify technical issues, then support system commissioning, startup, and functional testing activities. Energize equipment, load base configurations, and verify successful device operation while maintaining accurate field documentation and as-built drawings. Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and customer representatives to ensure successful project execution. Follow all company, client, and site-specific safety requirements. Travel to project locations as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Associate degree
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- High school diploma/GED
- 12+ years of applicable field experience
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to meet company driving requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in mission-critical environments such as utilities, telecommunications, industrial facilities, transportation systems, military installations, or data centers
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic systems, structured cabling, network infrastructure, device installation, commissioning, and startup activities
- Working knowledge of communication networks, automation systems, and electrical infrastructure
- Familiarity with DC power systems
