Job Summary
FIELD TECHNICIAN III position at Lumen with responsibilities spanning installation, testing, and maintenance of Transport equipment, Signaling (SS7), Private Line and Data Services, CSU/DSU, and CPE in outside plant and network environments. Responsibilities include troubleshooting network equipment, fiber quality testing, installing/testing network layers (transport, Ethernet, SONET, IP), locating and protecting underground outside plant facilities, managing power installations (AC/DC), large Netbuild management, asset management, and performing preventive maintenance. Requires 5+ years telecommunications experience, deep knowledge of transmission, switching, TCP/IP, fiber, HVAC, and power systems, with ability to work independently or as a team lead, and on-call rotations. Valid driver's license and willingness to work outdoors in varied conditions are expected.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years Technician experience in a telecommunications/data center environment
- Master knowledge of standard telecommunications practices and technologies including Transmission (DSO, POTS, DDS, FT1, DS1, E1, DS3, Sonet/SDH) and Switching (SS7, Trunking, Signaling) and TCP/IP (Fast/Gigabit Ethernet, Networking Protocols, Router Installation Configuration)
- Strong technical and mechanical background with experience of the latest generation transport gear, critical infrastructure (HVAC systems, high voltage electrical systems, DC Power Plants, etc.)
- Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way and As-Builts
- Valid state vehicle operator's license and satisfactory driving record
- On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis, on stand-by, call out, dispatch, and overtime requirements
